As Liberty Hospital continues to grow as part of The University of Kansas Health System, we know you may have questions about what this means for you and your care. Here are answers to what our patients and Northland neighbors ask us most.
Is Liberty Hospital now a Kansas hospital?
We're now part of The University of Kansas Health System and are the health system’s first hospital in Missouri. Rest assured, the hospital, our staff and our care are not going anywhere. And the Liberty Hospital name isn't going anywhere, either. It will simply become part of the health system's branding.
Was Liberty Hospital bought out, or is this a partnership?
Liberty Hospital chose to join The University of Kansas Health System in July 2024 after a year-long, transparent search that considered more than 30 potential partners. This is a full integration, built for the long term.
Can I keep seeing my doctor, or are they being replaced by health system doctors?
You can absolutely keep seeing your current doctor. Liberty Hospital physicians are staying in their roles and new physicians are joining the medical staff as services expand.
Will my patient portal or medical records be changing?
Not yet. We're working toward launching Epic (MyChart) in fall 2027 to bring our technology in line with the rest of the health system. Until then, your current portal and records process stay the same.
Can I go to a health system location in Kansas City or Olathe instead of Liberty for routine care?
For now, please continue getting care at your usual location. As integration continues, we'll let you know as soon as cross-location access becomes available.
Do I need new insurance due to Liberty joining the health system?
No. You can keep using the same insurance you use at Liberty Hospital today.
Will my billing look different now?
Not right now. Billing hasn't changed for patients, and we'll be sure to give patients plenty of notice before anything does.
What should I expect to see change in the coming year?
You can expect continued investment in new physicians, expanded specialty clinics, technology upgrades like Epic/MyChart and possibly new signage or branding as Liberty Hospital becomes part of the broader health system look.
What new services have opened at Liberty Hospital this year?
We’re thrilled to have launched several exciting new services with more projected in the coming months:
- A new vascular services clinic opened in July.
- A new non-oncology outpatient infusion clinic opened near our main entrance, offering more than 170 medications, including antibiotics, biosimilars and hydration therapies.
- We opened nephrology and neurology outpatient clinics in the Doctors Building.
- Construction is complete on The University of Kansas Cancer Center space in Medical Plaza East.

From national quality awards to being named a great place to work, 2026 brought many celebrations to Liberty Hospital. Here's a look at some of this year's honors and the people and programs behind them.
A Top 10 CNO Trailblazer
Chief Nursing Officer Regenia Stull was named among the top 10 CNO Trailblazers by Chief Women Leaders Magazine, which recognized her leadership in elevating nursing practice and building a culture of growth for nurses at Liberty Hospital.
Gold Plus Stroke Honor Roll Elite
Liberty Hospital once again earned the American Heart Association's Get With the Guidelines Gold Plus Award, including Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll status — the ninth consecutive year for Gold Plus and fourth for Honor Roll Elite. As a state-designated Time Critical Diagnosis Center, this recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to fast, research-backed stroke care close to home.
Newsweek Names Liberty Hospital a Top Workplace
For the second year in a row, Newsweek recognized Liberty Hospital as one of America's Greatest Workplaces for Gen Z in 2026. This distinction as an Employer of Choice is based on factors including career growth, mentorship, work-life balance and others, highlighting the experience we're building for the newest generation of healthcare professionals.

Dennie Anderson Named a 2026 Hero in Healthcare
Care management leader Dennie Anderson has spent 26 years advocating for Liberty Hospital patients and their families. From the Skilled Nursing Unit to helping build the team that coordinates care across nurses, social workers, physicians and families. Ingram's Magazine named her to its 2026 Class of Heroes in Healthcare in recognition of the coordination, compassion and advocacy she brings to every patient's care.
Voted Best of the Northland — Six Times Over
Each year, our neighbors cast their votes in the Best of the Northland Awards. Once again, Liberty Hospital was recognized in six categories: Best Hospital, Best Emergency Room, Best Urgent Care, Best Medical Clinic, Best Cardiologist (Dr. Ghose) and Best Sports Medicine. It's a recognition that means a lot to us because it comes straight from the people we serve.

Building a healthier community — one meal at a time.
We're dedicated to nurturing healthier lives in our community. In collaboration with the Redemptorist Center and Harvesters, our monthly drive-thru Mobile Food Pantry is vital to combating the food insecurity that affects many of our neighbors.
On the third Friday of each month, we provide hundreds of individuals across numerous Missouri counties — and some in Kansas — with fresh, nutritious food in a convenient and welcoming environment beginning at 5:30 p.m. We believe in creating lasting solutions for underserved communities by breaking down barriers that restrict access to resources.
